The story begun 7 years ago when Yamaha unveiled their radical MT-01 concept bike at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show. Like many concept machines the bike attracted a lot of attention. The most interest came from experienced riders who appreciated that this revolutionary new big V-twin would give a unique riding experience. Rather than being the response to market analysis, the MT-01 machine had been created by engineers and designers who aimed to build something different, and along the way they created a bike that fired the imagination of many riders.
