Yamaha to roll out premium bikes in November

In Cochin(Kerala):

Yamaha is all set to roll out its flagship brands in the country in November.

The 1000 cc bike – R1 – will be launched in select metros in November and the 1700 cc bike – MT 01 – will be introduced in January 2008. The price of the 1000 cc bike will be about Rs11.5 lakh, Mr P. Sam, Group Head (Marketing and Sales), said at a press meet here.

Onam Offer

Mr Sam, who was here to announce the Onam offers with Yamha bikes in Kerala, said the company would be launching a series of products in January 2008. The company is focusing more on above 125 cc bikes as the growth rate is high whereas the below 125 cc bike segment has shown a negative growth in the recent period.

Yamaha, with a market share of 4 per cent, had sold 2.4 lakh units last year. The total motorcycle sales in the country last year is estimated at 65 lakh units. The industry size is roughly will be 10 million units by 2010 and Yamaha is aiming to achieve a market share of 10 per cent by 2010, then, he said.

Cash prizes

Referring to the Onam Scratch for Cash Offer in Kerala, he said that customers who are buying Yamaha bikes such as Gladiator, Alba etc. will get assured cash prizes and have a chance to win mega cash prizes. Customers can scratch the card and win the prizes mentioned in it.

Mega cash prizes included Rs 10,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively. Along with this, there will be an assured prize of Rs 2,000 for every purchase. Besides, Yamaha is arranging loan and finance facilities with 4.25 per cent interest rate, which is lower than what is available in the market, he added.
