BAJAJ PULSAR 180 NEON EDITION LAUNCHED; GETS A MATTE GREY PAINT JOB

BAJAJ PULSAR 180 AND 180F ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN THE NEON EDITION. IT IS THE SAME MATTE GREY COLOUR WHICH COMES ON THE PULSAR 150. 

A couple of months back, Bajaj silently launched the Pulsar 180F in India. It gets the semi-faired design of Pulsar 220F, to distinguish itself from the Pulsar 180. However, the engine and other specifications remain the same. 

Bajaj Pulsar 180 and 180F is now available in the Neon edition. The neon edition offers a matte grey paint job with some orange highlights on the Pulsar badge, grab rails, faux air vents and alloy wheels. 

The Pulsar 180F Neon edition is available at Rs 87,450 and the regular 180 in Neon is available Rs 2000 cheaper, at Rs 85450 (ex-showroom prices).

Bajaj Pulsar 180 and 180F get only styling differences as such. The 180F gets semi-faired styling, which also provides projector headlamps. It is meant for people who love the looks of 220F, which now comes in a 180cc engine under a Lakh. 

Bajaj bought the Pulsar 180F to boost its sales further. For the past few years, the sales of Pulsar 180 has been declining sharply, owing to its similar pricing to Pulsar 150 and NS160. 

Also, it has updated the Pulsar 180 with new decals and colour options. An engine cowl is also provided now, which actually looks just like a showpiece.

The engine is the same – a 178.6cc air-cooled DTS-i engine, that is capable of producing 17 BHP at 8500 RPM and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. 

Finally, the ABS-updated units of Bajaj Pulsar 180 have started reaching dealerships, ahead of an official launch. A single-channel ABS with rear lift off protection (RLP) will be available as standard fitment post-April 2019. 

For braking, the Pulsar 180 uses disc brakes at both the ends as standard, now with ABS. The suspension is handled by telescopic forks at the front and a 5-step adjustable monoshock at the back.

Pulsar 180 goes against its age-old rival, Apache RTR 180. However, its pricing puts it in competition with Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S and Pulsar NS160.
